Hyde Cricket Club has been playing competitive cricket for more than 100 years and we have been at our present attractive location in what is now Werneth Low Country Park since 1948.
During our time here we have been affiliated to several high quality leagues, with each successive move indicative of progress. Currently we are members of the ECB Premier Division of the Cheshire County Cricket League, the principal competition in Cheshire and South Manchester. Over the years we have won many honours, including numerous League and Cup triumphs in the old Lancashire and Cheshire League, the championship of the Central Lancashire League in 1981 and, more recently, the Cheshire County League Twenty/20 Cup ( the Fred Graham Trophy) in 2007 and, in 2008, the prestigious Cheshire Cup.
The club enjoys England and Wales Cricket Board “Focus Club” status and has had ClubMark accreditation since its inception. In recent years a £140,000 project, fifty per cent funded by the ECB, created brand new changing facilities and, in addition to our thee-lane outdoor practice nets, a pioneering all-weather covered net unit, housed in a polytunnel style membrane, the first of its kind in the country.
We run four senior teams which cater for all levels of player from social cricket through to county level with every stage in between. The first and second elevens play on Saturdays, both currently in their respective premier divisions, and the third and fourth teams on Sundays. Training and net practice are held on a Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.00pm onwards.
We have long placed a defining emphasis on junior development and our junior section is widely recognised as being one of the best, if not the best, around. We employ 13 qualified coaches and field teams at Under 9, 10, 11, 13, 15 (two) and 17. Coaching takes place on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm (12 to 18 year olds) and on Friday evenings from 6.30 to 8.00 pm (upto 11 year olds).
